HTON Becomes Member of the International Union of Tenants (IUT)

We are thrilled to announce that Housing and Tenants Organization Nepal (HTON) has officially become a member of the International Union of Tenants (IUT), a prestigious global network that champions tenants’ rights.

Founded in 1926 in Zürich, Switzerland, and now headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with a representative office in Brussels, IUT represents 77 tenant organizations across 51 countries. It has been a leading voice for tenants worldwide, holding consultative status at the United Nations and the Council of Europe. IUT plays a key role in the global tenants’ movement, working to ensure that housing is recognized as a fundamental human right.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in HTON Nepal’s mission to promote safe, affordable, and equitable housing in Nepal while contributing to the strength of the global tenants’ movement.

HTON Nepal’s membership in IUT reaffirms our commitment to advocating for the rights of tenants and expands our ability to participate in the global dialogue on housing rights. This collaboration will amplify the voices of tenants both locally and internationally and support the movement for fair, sustainable, and affordable housing for all.
